Princeton Residents

There are more and more electric vehicles traveling on southern California roads and within Princeton Townhomes complex. Princeton’s Board of Directors is in the process of developing community rules for charging electric vehicles. The Board is reviewing rules being implemented in neighboring communities as to assure consistency. We anticipate having a draft of such rules for Princeton Townhomes sent out to the community within the next 90 days.

In the interim, the Board is requesting your cooperation with the following:

  1. Electric charging stations installed in garages or carports must have the approval of the Board prior to installation. An architectural application must be completed along with the schematics of the installation. Installation by licensed electricians is mandatory. An architectural application may be requested to management by emailing contacts@princetontownhomes.org.
  2. If you have already installed a charging station, we ask that you complete the architectural application within the next 30 days and submit it to the Board.
  3. Charging vehicles is not permitted in front of a garage or unit, double parked in a garage or carport, or otherwise hanging out of the garage or carport. As per Princeton’s parking rules revised in June 2017, item 8, Vehicles Parked in Fire Lanes:

All streets within Princeton are fire lanes. Any vehicle parked in a fire lane, whether or not it is displaying a parking pass, is subject to immediate tow without notice. Please note that activation of a vehicle’s emergency lights/flashers while parked in a fire lane does not preclude a vehicle from being subject to immediate tow at the vehicle owner’s expense.

  1. Charging cords must not be left draped on the ground in carports. Once charging is complete, they should be properly stored. Charging vehicles in any parking space (i.e.-visitor or reserved) is not permitted as they create unnecessary hazards for fellow residents.

We ask your cooperation as we navigate through changing times while being considerate of our neighbors.
